Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives (OREC) is recruiting for a leadership position as Vice President of Statewide Services reporting to the President and CEO of OREC. Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Inc. serves as the statewide trade association for 24 independent electric cooperatives throughout the state of Ohio. These cooperatives provide electricity to over 380,000 homes and businesses in 77 of Ohio’s 88 counties. OREC and the G&T for Ohio’s electric cooperatives work collaboratively to provide value added services for the benefit of their members. Services provided by OREC to member systems includes: member and public relations, legislative affairs, safety and loss control consulting (including lineworker training), member information, coordination of educational programs and conferences, and material supply distribution. OREC offices are located in Columbus, Ohio.
Qualified candidates for this leadership position must have:
• A strong working knowledge of the rural electric program.
• Experience as a cooperative CEO or general manager and work experience within the Ohio cooperative programs is strongly preferred.
• A strong, fluent knowledge of current issues affecting electric cooperatives.
• A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, preferably with not less than five to 10 years within the rural electric program.
• Demonstrated experience as a collaborator, team builder.
• Experience supervising, leading and getting results from others through formal reporting structure as well as influencing, getting results from others who have no formal reporting relationship to the position.
• Work history reflecting the ability to demonstrate effectiveness in a service or support organization is preferred.

Apprentice Line Technician
Union Rural Electric is seeking to fill the position of Apprentice Line Technician – Level One. This position assists with the installation, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical overhead and underground distribution facilities.
This position requires the use of a personal computer, the ability to lift 75 pounds from floor to waist, the ability to deal with employees, members, and the general public in a courteous and proper manner, the ability to write legibly and record accurately.
Applicants should have the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Line Technician “A” job and be qualified through demonstration, examination and performance appraisal as determined by the Cooperative.
The applicant must be able to acquire within a time frame determined by the Cooperative, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression, or vacate the current job classification.

Power Generation/Performance Management
Buckeye Power, Inc., a not-for-profit Columbus based company which provides electric utility generation and transmission services throughout Ohio, is in search of a dynamic candidate for the position of Power Generation Performance Management Project Manager. Position objective: Ensures the competitive position of Buckeye Power, Inc., owned generation resources through optimization of production costs. Duties: Works with groups and individuals outside of Buckeye Power to help establish, optimize and achieve key power plant performance metrics. Develops and maintains appropriate monitoring metrics of key performance indicators for Buckeye Power’s generation resources. Evaluates operations and maintenance practices to determine their adequacy and identify potential cost savings measures. Represents the company in the development, execution and administration of fuel/consumable supply and transportation contracts as well as combustion byproduct disposal contracts. Assists in the planning of optimal plant environmental control performance. Job requirements: Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressively responsible experience in the electric utility industry. Experience with project management, contract administration and asset management is preferred. Knowledge of fossil-fuel power plant engineering processes, equipment and economics. Knowledge in negotiation and administration of commercial contracts.
